St. Helens plays well in a 1-1 tie with Hermiston

The St. Helens Lady Lions stayed unbeaten with a 1-1 tie at Hermiston last week.

St. Helens took the lead in the match with a goal by freshman Ashley Giesbers. It was her fourth goal of the week.

“We played very badly after that,” Coach Simon Date said. “We defended fairly well and all the credit to Hermiston. They threw eerything at us and we had our backs to the wall.”

Hermiston would score a few minutes into the second half, but St. Helens “shut-up shop” for the rest of the match, Date said.

The Lady Lions hosted Roosevelt on Tuesday and then open league play at Milwaukie on Thursday.
