Committee meets Tuesday to talk about funding priorities

An open house on transportation projects in Washington County recommended for funding is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Beaverton City Library.

The Washington County Coordinating Committee has recommended that the projects be funded with Regional Flexible Funds by Metro during the regional government's 2016-18 allocation cycle.

The program combines funds from three federal sources. The funds are allocated by Metro every two to three years. During the upcoming allocation cycle, approximately $95 million is available for projects ranging from regional trails to major road improvements throughout the region.

The recommended projects are proposed by Washington County, the Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District and the cities of Beaverton, Hillsboro and Tigard. The coordinating committee, which represents all local governments in the county, will finalize its recommendations at its September meeting.

The recommendations include streetscapes, trail extensions, pedestrian crossings, intersection improvements and interchange projects.
