This year’s event, which was sponsored by McCabe Real Estate Group, was held at Laurel Ridge Middle School Saturday with proceeds going to help defray medical expenses for Briana Dannen, a Sherwood High School teacher.

Dannen discovered she had an aggressive form of breast cancer in October when she was 16 weeks pregnant, beginning chemotherapy a short time later.

She gave birth to Harper June Dannen, who weighed in at 5 pounds, 6 ounces, at St. Vincent Medical Center on March 10.

Not only was the $9,200 collected from donations from those searching for more than 20,000 eggs but Fat Milo’s Family Kitchen donated at check for $955 to Dannen, proceeds from a community dinner previously held at the restaurant.

Along with a online gofundme account, which is almost up to $26,000, and at least another $5,000 collected from outside fundraising efforts, the grand total for Dannen will be more than $40,000, according to Leslie McCabe, who organized Saturday’s event.

“The event was amazing,” said McCabe, noting that representatives from the Sherwood Police Department and Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue turned out for the event along with Sherwood Youth Cheer (the latter of whom created custom cheers for Dannen and the egg hunt).
