Sherwood falls to Rex Putnam in Tuesday's game

SHERWOOD — The Sherwood High School girls basketball team got off to a bit of a rough start to Northwest Oregon Conference play.

The Lady Bowmen fell 39-28 to Rex Putnam in a NWOC opener played Tuesday at Sherwood High School.

Rex Putnam upped its overall record to 3-7 with the win, while Sherwood moved to 5-5 on the season.

Prior to Tuesday’s game, the Lady Bowmen ended their non-league schedule by getting a 65-25 win over North Salem in a game played Friday at North Salem High School.

Senior post Jaelyn Funk led Sherwood with 15 points in that game. Junior Jessica Thiel added 13 points, junior Mallory Shields had 11 points and junior Jennah Stobie had 10.

The Lady Bowmen will be looking to get their first conference win on Friday when they play at St. Helens in a game starting at 7:15 p.m.
