by: COURTESY OF TUALATIN RIVERKEEPERS - A family of paddlers enjoys the Tualatin River Tualatin Riverkeepers is sponsoring its 24th-annual Tualatin River Discovery Day on June 29.

It’s an easy way to get children and other newcomers to learn to paddle on one of the most gentle rivers in Oregon.

Trips will leave from the Highway 99-W boat launch on Hazelbrook Road in Tualatin.

The Riverkeepers will rent canoes and tandem or solo kayaks for $30 per boat, providing paddles, life jackets and safety gear. Paddlers also can bring their own boats, though reservations are required.

A river fair at the end of the trip, at Tualatin Community Park, will provide nature-related activities geared to families.
