Some of the Northwest’s leading researchers and entrepreneurs in budding “clean tech” industries will gather in Portland to discuss innovations in the field.

The conference, known as the Oregon BEST Fest, takes place Sept. 11 to 12 at the Leftbank Annex, 101 N. Weidler St.

Van Jones, a former Obama administration official and co-host of CNN’s “Crossfire,” will deliver the keynote address on green jobs.

Other topics include: new ideas in water systems, non-toxic building materials, improving data center performance, sustainable batteries, wave energy, what’s next in solar energy and other subjects.

Oregon BEST, or the Oregon Built Environment & Sustainable Technologies Center, brings together academics from Oregon universities and people in budding start-up companies.

There will be tours of academic research facilities, a research and innovation poster session, and announcements of the winners of the PSU Cleantech Challenge and the Oregon BEST Red List Design Challenge.
