Credit union in Sandy celebrates first year

The Sandy branch of the Clackamas Federal Credit Union will celebrate the first anniversary of its opening in Sandy when it begins serving catered desserts this week.

The event will be held from 1-3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at the Sandy branch, 37077 Highway 26.

The credit union, which has six other branches in the county, added 1,066 members at the local branch during its first year of operation in Sandy.

“It’s a great achievement, and we wish to honor the city’s involvement and the staff who have put in the time to make this branch a success,” said Andrew Vahrenkamp, CFO.

At the anniversary celebration, the Sandy Area Chamber of Commerce, Clackamas Federal Credit Union Board of Directors and representatives from Mt. Hood Search and Rescue will be present. All other members have been asked to attend.

Connect with area business owners

The Sandy Area Chamber of Commerce will have its Good Evening Sandy networking event at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, at the chamber office, 38963 Pioneer Blvd.

Mt. Hood Hospice will play host at the assembly, and will show its giving tree that will stay in the chamber’s visitor center during December.

The gathering is held to give opportunities for local entrepreneurs to meet people from other businesses. Bring a dollar to enter a drawing, which gives prizes to the winners and saves 50 cents from each entrant to pay for gifts and food for a needy family next Christmas.

For more information on this networking event or how to connect with local business owners, call 503-668-4006.
