CCSO Search and Rescue located Vernon Ray next to the Sandy River

Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue has found the 55-year-old man went missing from a campsite in Dodge Park, 11021 SE. Lusted Rd, early this morning.

Vernon Ray, known also as “Keith,” who suffers from dementia and other medical issues, was reported to have walked away from the campsite at around 1:30 a.m. in the morning on Monday, Aug. 11.

At around 12:30 p.m. Monday, search crews found Ray, who according to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office has a memory span of about five minutes and cannot talk, in a small ravine next to the Sandy River not far from Dodge Park.

He appeared to be unharmed, but was taken by AMR to Mt. Hood Medical Center for a checkup.

The search and rescue team was assisted by Mountain Wave Search and Rescue, Pacific Northwest Search and Rescue and the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office Marine Patrol and Dive Team.
