PAMPLIN MEDIA GROUP - Sandy retailers brought in $1.2 million in revenue in the past year off state run video lottery terminals.

Within the past year, fans of Sandy's video lottery locations shelled out more than $6 million, which was turned into state revenue. Overall, Sandy gamblers won somewhere around $69 million and a little more than $68 million was played in both video and traditional lottery situations.

Sandy lotto retailers saw a combined return of $1.2 million.

In the greater scheme of things, Clackamas County took in $36 million of lottery dollars to distribute among county organizations, school districts and project funds.

The Oregon Lottery Commission transfers a majority of its funds — more than one billion in the last two-year budget cycle — to the state legislature, which uses the money to fund public education, economic development, state recreation and treatment for problematic gamblers.

During the 2013 and 2015 biennium, the Oregon Trail School District received more than $2.2 million in lottery funds.
