Grades 5-6

SANDY RED 30, MILWAUKIE MAROON 14 — Sandy QB Chet Chamberlain broke loose on TD runs of 50 and 65 yards, while Colby Worthylake found the end zone four times, including a long of 70 yards. Sandy put up 32 points in the second half to pull away from the Gophers. Noah Fladoos and Brady Shirrell each came up with interceptions that led to scoring drives for the Pioneers.

After falling behind 6-0 in the first quarter, Sandy got a touchdown run from Worthylake to take a slim 7-6 advantage into halftime.

Grades 3-4

CANBY 36, SANDY 14 — Joey Wagner scored a pair of touchdowns, including a 60-yard scamper, during the loss. Simon Smith and Cade Speitz picked up the bulk of the team’s tackles on the defensive side.

Sept. 7

JV (7th grade)

SANDY 34, ST. HELENS 6 — Colton Gorski broke loose for a 51-yard touchdown run on the game’s first play, and Cody Redmond ran in the conversion attempt to put Sandy up 8-0 in the opening minute.

Sandy found the end zone again on its second possession when Gorski hooked up with Glynne McGaughey for a 46-yard touchdown pass. Gorski also had a 32-yard scoring strike to Nate Olsen.

Taran Jelinek ran in from 2 yards out to make it 28-0 Sandy at the half. The short run was set up by McGaughey’s interception deep in St. Helens territory.

Sandy finished the scoring in the second half when Brandon Long took a kickoff 65 yards, setting up a 1-yard plunge over the goal line by Dustin Lial.

Sandy’s defense picked off five passes and scored a safety.

Grades 5-6

SANDY RED 30, MILWAUKIE MAROON 14 — Sandy QB Chet Chamberlain found the end zone twice and Colby Worthylake also had a touchdown run to put the Pioneers up 18-0 at the half. Montrell Jackson made a few catches to power a drive that ended in another Worthylake touchdown run, as Sandy put the game out of reach in the second half.

SANDY BLACK 9, CENTENNIAL RED 0 — Sandy broke open a scoreless game in the fourth quarter when Colby Carson broke loose for a 40-yard touchdown run. The Pioneers sealed the victory on a 30-yard field goal by Orion Shaw.
