The Mt. Hood Community College baseball team relied on a quick start to knock off host Yakima Valley for the second straight time to advance through the East Region Super Regionals on Saturday.

The Saints closed out Regionals with a 7-2 win, setting the tone early with Jared Bentley getting hit by a pitch, Cameron Sheets reaching on a single and Jace McKinney sending an RBI-double into the outfield to bring across a run before the Saints had registered an out.

Thomas Lampkin put a sacrifice grounder in play and Trevor Nannini connected on a two-out single to push the lead to 3-0 before the Yaks had picked up a bat.

The Saints stretched the lead to 6-0 in the fourth inning after Cody Curfman hit a lead-off double and came around to score on a wild pitch, while Jace McKinney kept up his hot bat with an RBI-single.

Chris Stone went the distance on the mound for Mt. Hood, scattering nine hits while retiring the side in order twice.

Mt. Hood (18-23) advances to the eight-team Northwest Community College championship tournament in Longview, Wash., taking on host Lower Columbia in a quarterfinal game at 7:35 p.m. Thursday.
