After getting a 1-0 victory over Canby in the first game of a doubleheader, Sandy head coach Rick Martin was hoping for a little more offense in the second game.

Luckily for Martin, his team was able to come through for him.

The Pioneers scored three runs in the second inning and four runs in the third inning as Sandy swept the doubleheader by winning game two 7-1 on Thursday night at Sandy High School.

"We only had one hit in the first game, so stringing multiple hits together and having multiple-run innings was big for us," Martin said.

On the pitching side, Sandy starter Colby Carson was dominant in this one, pitching a complete game while only giving up five hits and no earned runs. The Cougars got an unearned run off Carson in the top of the sixth, but that was the only damage that they could manufacture.

Sandy opens the OIBA tournament with the late 7 p.m. game Thursday against No. 1 seed Clackamas. The tourney is hosted by Wilsonville High.
