The Mt. Hood Community College volleyball team got off to a quick start with a 25-19, 25-13, 25-14 sweep over Yakima Valley last Friday.

After trading points early in the third set, the Saints took quick command with a six-point flurry that saw Mikinley Prengel connect for back-to-back aces.

Prengel returned to the service line later in the set and trickled one off the tap for another ace and a 23-11 gap that prompted Yakima Valley to call timeout.

While the Yaks were discussing ways of climbing back into the match, the Saints turned the short break into a dance off in their huddle.

"This is a really fun group, and I was interested to see if our practice energy would show up on game day and it did," Saints' coach Kim Lissinna said.
