Thompson served in interim when Abigail Elder took Beaverton post

Jerianne Thompson may be a familiar face — she’s been serving as interim library manager since last year.

Thompson came to the library in July 2011 to accept the position of public services supervisor. But she arguably prepared herself to oversee Tualatin's 107,000-volume library — and an establishment with an estimated 1,000 daily visits — in Murfreesboro, Tenn., where she acted as collection development coordinator and branch supervisor for the Linebaugh Public Library System.

She received her master's of information science degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville.

Community Services Director Paul Hennon called Thompson a promising leader for a library fast establishing itself as an inviting community center where “learning, discovery and interaction flourishes, while expressing a welcoming civic identity and embracing Tualatin’s values and future.”

Thompson will be taking over for Abigail Elder, who left the position after five years to accept the role of Beaverton libraries director.
