On Saturday, Tualatin Police with the Drug Enforcement Administration hosted a “Pharmaceutical Drug Take Back Day” at the Tualatin

Police Department.

In total, Tualatin officers collected 11 full boxes of medications, which equalled 273 pounds.

Citizens were encouraged to bring unwanted or expired prescription and over-the-counter medicine so that they could be safely disposed of. The DEA is working toward stopping the disposal of medications by throwing them out or flushing them down the toilet, as these can lead to drugs ending up in the wrong hands or in the water supply.

The Tualatin Police Department has a drug disposal box in its lobby that can be used Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. For information on other safe disposal methods, go to
