Tualatin's only children's triathlon is this Saturday

This Saturday beginning at 8 a.m., the Tualatin TRYathlon will be held at Tualatin High School. Children ages 6-15 will run, swim and bike in the event, which is non-timed and non-competitive.

“I think it’s a pretty unique event in that it’s a noncompetitive triathlon,” said Julie Luddeman, the recreation program specialist for Tualatin and the event’s coordinator. “Kids have so many opportunities to compete, so this is an opportunity just to go and have fun and participate in an event that they might not have been able to otherwise.”

Though online registration is now closed, there are still some spots available that can be snagged up when the event begins Saturday morning. Registration is $12. Some extra T-shirts will be available, but not guaranteed for Saturday registrants. The events are divided by age groups 6-8, 9-11 and 12-15, and then by last name.

If you miss registration, there will also be a “FunZone” with activities and low-cost helmets for sale, with fittings by volunteers from Legacy Emanuel Hospital.

The TRYathlon is located at 22300 S.W. Boones Ferry Road. If you have questions, call 503-691-3061 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
