The district will host two meetings next week to determine 'the desired qualities for a new superintendent.'

The Tigard-Tualatin School District will host two Superintendent Search Community Meetings next week: one at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16 at the Tigard High School library, and the other at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18 at the Tualatin Elementary School Library.

Ernie Brown, the district's current superintendent, announced that he would retire at the end of this school year in December.

"The purpose of these meetings are to gather information from the community for the superintendent search about the desired qualities for a new superintendent," a district employee told the Times in an email. "These meetings will be facilitated by the school board's superintendent search consultant, Greg McKenzie with NextUp Leadership."

NextUp Leadership is the firm TTSD recently hired to help facilitate its superintendent search. The company has done similar work for other Oregon school districts in the past.

Community members who are unable to attend either meeting can take a brief survey available through the school's website.

In addition to searching for a new superintendent, the district also is seeking applicants for its budget committee. Those interested in learning more may access the application here.
