Crooked River Ranch murder suspect arrested in Tualatin
KOIN news is reporting that a man suspected of murdering his mother in Crooked River Ranch is in custody after a standoff in Tualatin early Thursday morning.
Gavin Smith-Brown, 29, was spotted in a stolen car in the parking lot of McDonald's on Southwest Boones Ferry Road early Thursday, June 7. He wouldn't get out of the car when police approached, but was eventually apprehended.
A tactical negotiation team assisted with the situation.
Smith-Brown is suspected of killing his mother, Gayla Smith, 65. She was found dead in her home on Southwest Dove Road in Cooked River Ranch on Sunday.
As of 5:10 a.m., June 7, Southwest Tualatin Sherwood Road in Tualatin was closed in both directions from Boones Ferry to Martinazzi. Southwest Boones Ferry Road was closed in both directions from Warm Springs to Seneca during the arrest.
