Performances set this weekend at PCC Sylvania

Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Cinderella” will take the stage Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Portland Community College’s Sylvania Campus Performing Arts Center.

Tualatin’s own Horizon Christian High and Middle School “Stages of Faith” actors will bring the story to life.

Directed by Jane VanderVelde and Nancy Schifferdecker, “Cinderella” is a show for the entire family, featuring romance, intrigue, great costumes and lots of laughs. by: SUBMITTED PHOTO - Breanne Swanson and Trevor Pursel will enchant audiences as Cinderella and the Prince.

Senior Breanne Swanson stars as Cinderella. Freshman Trevor Pursel portrays the Prince who falls in love with and searches for his true love after her untimely departure from the ball. Clara Schuler is the magical and mischievous Fairy Godmother, and Gabe Nielsen and Josie Claus play the King and Queen. Alissa Adent is Cinderella’s harsh stepmother actively scheming to lure the Prince into marrying one of her oh-so-eligible daughters. Kate Schifferdecker, Salome Prater and Keira Jones play the awkward step-sisters — each vying for the prince’s undivided attention.

More than 70 students are involved in this production, both on the stage and behind the scenes, working on sets and props.

“The level of stage performance these kids achieve is phenomenal,” VanderVelde said. “They have great energy and dedication.

“Our production is designed to amuse audiences and entertain the kid in every one of us.”

Tickets are $10 for bench seating and $12 for orchestra seating. Friday and Saturday performances are at 7 p.m. Sunday will have a 2 p.m. matinee.
