'staycation' options

During the second half of July, Beaverton City Library, 12375 S.W. Fifth St., is hosting the second annual summer staycation for adults. Celebrate this year's staycation with programming, book suggestions and more that delve into the weird, wild and wonderful of Oregon. 

The staycation events include the following:

n Mushroom Foraging and Identification is 6:30-8 p.m. Monday, July 17.

n Portland Opera Preview: "Cosi Fan Tutte," is 7-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 18.

n Pacific Northwest Reading Café, is noon-1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 19.

n Repair and Recycling Fair is 12:30-3:30 p.m. Saturday, July 22.

n Oregon Bigfoot Highway is 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 26.

Additionally, through July 31, sign up for WCCLS Reads, the library's summer reading program for adults. Sign up online at or at either Beaverton City Library location to read books and submit book reviews all summer long, and be entered into prize drawings.

Bridgeport Village, 7455 S.W. Bridgeport Road, Tigard, is featuring free live music every day from July 1 to Sept. 10. The musicians will perform at the mall's center court on the Summer of Celebration Stage. Concert times are 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 4 to 9 p.m. Fridays, 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturdays, and 2 to 4 p.m. Sundays.
