Sherwood moves to third place in the NWOC standings

The Sherwood High School boys basketball team, coming off impressive victories over Sandy and Parkrose, is climbing its way up the Northwest Oregon Conference standings.

The Bowmen, who posted a 49-43 home victory over Sandy on Friday, followed that up with a 78-59 win at Parkrose on Tuesday.

With the two victories, Sherwood improved to 7-4 in NWOC games (12-8 overall), putting the Bowmen alone in third place in the league standings.

Junior post Jordan Kurahara helped lead the Bowmen to the win over Sandy by scoring a game-high 18 points. Senior guard Jordan Skoubo and senior post Alex Jones each scored nine points.

Sandy fell to 8-2 in league play at that point with the setback.

Skoubo and Kurahara each scored 15 points in Tuesday’s victory at Parkrose. Jones reached double figures with 13 points and junior guard Alex Castaneda scored nine.

Sherwood will be back in action tonight (Thursday) when it hosts league-leading Milwaukie in a NWOC game starting at 7:15 p.m. at Sherwood High School. On Tuesday, the Bowmen will play at Wilsonville in a 7:15 p.m. league tilt.
