Sherwood seniors Milligan and Pfefferkorn each place second

WILSONVILLE — Area track and field athletes continued their strong 2014 season at the BorderDuel event, which concluded Sunday at Wilsonville High School.

Sherwood had some solid showing at the meet, which featured some of the top competitors from Oregon and Washington.

Bowmen senior Hunter Pfefferkorn, who won the Class 5A state title in the boys 400-meter run, took second place in the finals of that event at BorderDuel with a time of 49.66 PAMPLIN MEDIA GROUP:DAVID BALL - FAST TO THE FINISH -- Sherwood's Hunter Pfefferkorn finishes strong in the 400-meter dash at Sunday's BorderDuel event.

Sherwood senior Cole Nixon took seventh place in that race with a mark of 50.86. Nixon also sprinted to ninth place in the 200 in 23.24.

Also for the Sherwood boys, junior Ben Milligan cleared 6 feet, 6 inches to take second place in the high jump.

Bowmen senior Austin Goldstein took fifth in the javelin with a throw of 175-6.

For the Sherwood girls, senior Marina Parker was 16th in the 100 at 13.22 and she took 20th place in the 200 in 27.97.

Tualatin senior Laura Taylor, who is the two-time Class 6A girls state pole vault champion, took third place in that event at BorderDuel with a height of 11-6.

Timberwolf senior Ryan Wisner cleared 6-2 to place eighth in the boys high jump competition.

For the Tigard girls, junior Brianna Stoppa was 16th in the 100 high hurdles with a mark of 16.68.

For Westside Christian, senior Jacob Sturtevant ran to 16th place in the 200 at 23.69 and he was 18th in the 400 with a mark of 52.09.

For the Westside Christian girls, junior Lisa Jauch finished seventh in the 2k steeplechase race with a time of 8:08.68.
