The 10th annual Gospel Jamboree held at Woodburn Christian Church raised around $680 for Love CARLA COLEMAN - Joni Harms (left) joined Bill Coleman and the Good News Gospel String Band for the 10th annual Gospel Jamboree at Woodburn Christian Church on Oct. 27.

The event, which was held Oct. 27, was attended by 243 people and featured special guests Joni Harms and Lex Browning in addition to the Good News Gospel String Band.

Love, INC, was recognized and honored during the program, as was Brenda Shoup, executive director, who has resigned from her post, effective Nov. 1, due to personal reasons.

“The board will hire an interim executive and continue to staff the office with volunteers while they do a search for a new executive,” said board president David Morelli.

The mission of Love INC is to “mobilize the churches to help people in need in their local community.”

Morelli said that since Love INC opened its doors in Woodburn less than two years ago, 350 families in the area have been served.

Morelli pointed out that Gospel Jamboree has been instrumental to helping Love INC.

“Gospel Jamboree has given a portion of their free will offering for the past three years,” Morelli said. “Their concert helped launch our program in 2011.”

The Love INC board has approved to hire Nora Crauthers as interim executive director while they search for a more permanent replacement for Shoup. Crauthers is a resident of Aurora and attends Woodburn Church of Christ.
