North Marion Middle School Kiwanis Terrific Kids for May
Mattia Kimber, 12, daughter of Darla and Scott and sister to Samuel, is in the sixth grade.
Her favorite activity is track.
Her future goal is to be a surgeon.
Her teacher said this about Mattia: "Mattia has a strong work ethic and is dependable and self-motivated. Mattia's quiet demeanor means she may not always get recognition during class time, but her teachers know how diligent, studious and cooperative she is."
Alex Martin, 12, son of Amanda Martin and brother to Andrew, Josh and Liz, is in the seventh grade.
His favorite activities are reading and hanging out with friends during lunch. He also enjoys playing games in Mr. Thaggard's room.
His favorite classes are humanities and health. At home, he loves video games and watching TV. Currently, he is playing Super Mario Odyssey.
His future goal is to become an entertainer.
He said he isn't sure whether he wants to go to college, but he is keeping his options open.
His teacher wrote, "I have had the pleasure of knowing Alex since he was in sixth grade. He is consistently kind and responsible. Alex is an incredibly hard worker and perseveres when things are difficult for him. He has made so much growth personally and academically and I can't wait to see how far he will go as an eighth-grader next year. I am very proud to be Alex's teacher."
Dominique Huapeo, 14, daughter of Esmeralda and Javier Huapeo and sister to Jennifer, Javier and Kristopher, is in the eighth grade.
Her favorite activities and classes are soccer, physical education, math and science.
Her future goals are to go to college and become a physical therapist.
Her teacher wrote about Dominique: "Dominique is (an) extremely hard working and motivated student. She always gives her best in the classroom, no matter what is asked of her. She always strives to do her best and put forth the extra effort needed to be successful. Dominique is also well liked and respected. She has many friends, and students in and out of class show her respect and speak very highly of her. She is a real asset to North Marion Middle School."
