by: PHIL HAWKINS - Celine Gregoire's 12 points and four blocks were not enough to lift the Bulldogs past the Silverton Foxes on Jan. 22 at Woodburn High School.The Woodburn girls basketball team dropped a pair of conference games as the team slipped to sixth in the Mid-Willamette Conference standings.

The Bulldogs opened the week on Jan. 22 against Silverton, where the Foxes built a 42-18 advantage after two quarters en route to a 58-29 victory over Woodburn.

Celine Gregoire was the only Bulldog player to score in double figures, leading the team with 12 points, five rebounds and four blocks.

Ashley Doman added nine rebounds and two blocks, while Kylie Doman scored four points and pulled down five boards.

On Friday, the girls fell behind early at West Albany and went on to lose 37-24 to the rival Bulldogs.

Gregoire again led the team with eight points, but Woodburn had difficulty recovering from a 15-4 deficit after the first quarter.

The Bulldogs held West Albany to three points in the second quarter, but couldn’t score themselves, and went into halftime down 18-9.

Woodburn (6-6, 1-3 Mid-Willamette Conference) plays just once this week, traveling to Lebanon High School to face the No. 4-ranked Warriors (9-5, 2-2 Mid-Willamette).
