The Woodburn boys tennis scored a pair of victories against Dallas and Silverton last week to pull the team’s season record to 5-5.

The Bulldogs opened the week without singles players David Samano and Manny Leon, but Coach Tom Lonergan moved players and was happy to see his team step up and beat Silverton April 15 at Woodburn High School in a 4-4 contest that the Bulldogs won in a 9-8 tiebreaker on sets.

“That was a big win,” he said. “It’s the first time we’ve beaten them in a couple years.”

Woodburn went on to host Dallas Friday in a 6-2 victory that started slow for the Bulldogs but ended with a sweep over the Dragons singles teams.
