Mount Angel Junior National team finishes second at 2017 State Championship tournament in Lebanon

Senior American

Mount Angel's Senior American team had a strong opening to the state championship tournament in Hillsboro on Thursday, defeating Reedville 8-7 to advance to the second round against Canby.

But that's as far as the Trojans would get, falling 7-4 to the Cougars and following with a 4-2 elimination loss to Stayton on Friday.

Junior American

The North Marion Junior American baseball team had a strong showing at the state championship tournament in Hillsboro last week.

Following a bye past the first round, the Huskies lost 4-3 to McMinnville on Thursday to drop to the consolation bracket, where they scored a 15-5 win over Philomath to stay alive.

The Huskies advanced to Saturday's round of competition with a 6-2 victory over Silverton, but were eliminated in the consolation quarterfinals to Sherwood by a 5-3 margin.

Midget National

The North Marion Huskies earned a trip to the Midget National State Championship tournament in Hillsboro on July 13-16.

After receiving a bye in the first round, North Marion fell 13-8 to Stayton in the second round of competition, ending up on the consolation side of the bracket, where they were eliminated in a 9-4 loss to Whiskey Hill.

Junior National

North Marion's Junior National team scored a 10-0 victory to open the state championship tournament in Lebanon July 13-16, but a 14-7 loss to the eventual champion team from Crescent Valley in the second round sent the Huskies down to the consolation side of the bracket.

From there, North Marion scored an 11-0 win over Sherwood and a 15-8 victory against Gladstone before eventually being eliminated 9-4 to by Lebanon.

Mount Angel's Junior National team finished runner up in the state championship tournament after falling twice to Crescent Valley. The Trojans opened the tournament with a first-round bye, then took down Glencoe 13-3 to advance to the quarterfinal round, where they beat Lebanon 19-9.

A 7-4 loss to Crescent Valley in the semifinals sent Mount Angel to the consolation championship, where they beat Sherwood 15-14 to advance to the championship for a rematch with Crescent Valley, losing 13-2 to finish in second place.
