Apply for Lions scholarships

The West Linn Lions Service Club will award six scholarships to graduating West Linn High School seniors at the May 29 WLHS Evening of Excellence. Four $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to students who plan to major in health care, education, performing arts and career/technical studies in college.

A fifth scholarship for $1,000 will be awarded to a student with special needs who is planning to attend college. This scholarship signifies the Lions’ commitment to sight and hearing programs.

The sixth scholarship, worth $1,953, will be given to a student selected for his or her community service contributions. The Lions Club was chartered in 1953, and the amount of the scholarship accentuates the International Lions motto: “We serve.”

Scholarships awarded this year by the West Linn Lions Service Club will equal $6,953, making a total of $53,312 over the past nine years.

Applications must obtained from the WLHS college and career counselor. Applications must be returned to the counselor by April 1.
