Next walk is set for April 6

by: MIKE WATTERS - Hikers stopped at the oldest house in West Linn on March 2 as part of the city’s Centennial Heritage Walks series. On March 2, more than 50 people from West Linn and the surrounding area joined in on the third Heritage Centennial hike, led by Roger Shepherd.

The hiking group met at Sunset Primary School and hiked the neighborhood, hearing a variety of stories about the history of the area.

Hikers of all ages made the hike through streets, trails and hills. One stop brought out Gene Davis, owner of the oldest house in West Linn, which was built by the first landowner in the Oregon Country.

The free West Linn Centennial Heritage Walks are held monthly on the first Saturday of the month at 9 a.m. The next hike is set for the Bolton community on April 6, starting at Bolton Primary School, 5933 Holmes St.
