The West Linn City Council voted in a new president during its Jan. 9 meeting. The council unanimously elected Jenni Tan for the 2012 position.

Tan was elected to the council in September 2010. She will act in place of the mayor during any absence.

'Thank you for this honor,' Tan said. 'I'll work hard.'

Tan is replacing councilor Jody Carson, who served as president for 2011.

'We want to thank you very much for your service,' Mayor John Kovash told Carson at the meeting.

Tan is a licensed certified public accountant (CPA), and holds a bachelor's degree in business economics and a minor in accounting from UCLA, and an MBA from Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Management.

She serves on the board of directors for Clackamas County Women's Services and Providence Milwaukie Foundation. She is also an active volunteer at Sunset Primary School. Tan has been a part of the MOMS Club of West Linn as co-president and community services coordinator and served on the West Linn Planning Commission.

Tan's term ends Dec. 31, 2012.
