Tidings is seeking high school students looking for an opportunity to express ideas in the paper

The Student Writers Advisory Group (SWAG) is a group of high school student columnists that write for our newspapers: West Linn Tidings, Lake Oswego Review and the Wilsonville Spokesman.

The aspiring student writers were chosen by staff after applying to be part of a team of unique voices for the youth in our community. The group meets at our Lake Oswego office once a month and discusses various topics to write about.

It's a great way to become published, gain journalism experience and meet other talented writers from local high schools. Writers learn the importance of deadlines, cooperative editing and brainstorming story ideas.

You have to earn your spot in this elite team of high school students by participating in group discussions and submitting copy on time and on point.

We would like to have more high school students from West Linn and Wilsonville participate.
