New Oregon driver laws in place

Beginning Jan. 1 Oregon implemented several new laws affecting drivers. The damage threshold was raised to $2,500, fender benders with damage under that amount do not need to report it, unless there is an injury or damage to other property.

Drivers are now required by move over to another lane or slow down by at least five miles per hour for any vehicle stopped next to the road displaying hazard lights or any sign of distress.

Also, drivers are allowed to black out the address on their registration card and proof of insurance carried in their vehicle, to ensure privacy.

And a licensed Oregon driver will not need to take a drive test to receive an endorsement on their license to drive some three-wheeled motorcycles. Under Senate Bill 36, this change applies only to three-wheeled vehicles that operate much like a four-wheeled car.
