Lions topple OC and now await play-in opponent

by: MATTHEW SHERMAN - Kamelah Noel and the West Linn volleyball team earned a split in the season series with Oregon City last week, knocking off the Pioneers in straight sets. The Lions would lose to Clackamas in straight sets on Tuesday and finished in fourth place in the TRL. West Linn will host a play-in game with the winner making the 32-team bracket.The West Linn volleyball team avenged an earlier loss to Oregon City with a convincing three-set sweep last week and wrapped up the regular season with a loss to Clackamas.

The Lions played some of their best volleyball of the year in the first two sets against the Pioneers and never let Oregon City into the match.

West Linn took advantage of the Pioneers' mistakes and played well at the net, hitting efficiently to win the opening set 25-20. The Lions continued to play aggressively and their momentum carried over, leading to a dominating 25-11 win in the second set.

Oregon City showed some fight in the third, rallying to stay neck and neck with the Lions.

However, strong defense down the stretch helped West Linn clinch a 25-23 victory.

West Linn then hosted the annual West Linn Invitational over the weekend, featuring many of the top teams in the state.

After pool play, the Lions took on South Salem and lost in straight sets. No. 1 Central Catholic would go on to win the tournament.

West Linn wrapped up the season with a loss to Clackamas, which clinched a tie for the league title with Lakeridge.

The Lions finished fourth in the Three Rivers League and will now await their play-in opponent.
