And the West Linn baseball team turned 2017 into a great year. The Lions rolled to an impressive 16-1 record and a Three Rivers League title, then strung together a 21-game winning streak that didn't end until the team's 5-1 loss to Clackamas in the Class 6A state championship game.

The rewards came with the recently released Class 6A all-state baseball teams, with four players — shortstop Tim Tawa, first baseman Jake Porter and outfielders Chase Cosner and Garrett Marioni — honored on all-state teams.

Porter, a senior, earned a spot on the first team after batting .400 with 18 doubles, 33 RBIs and 29 runs scored. Tawa, another senior, hit .365 with five homers, 14 doubles, 24 RBIs and 40 runs to win his place on the all-state fiorst team.

Senior center fielder Cosner batted .412 with 26 RBIs and 31 runs on the year, and Marioni — a junior right fielder — hit .340 with 21 RBIs and 25 runs to earn their spots on the all-state honorable mention team.

Centennial junior outfielder Dawson Day was named Player of the Year, Century senior Kolby Somers was named Pitcher of the Year, and Clackamas coach John Arntson, who led the Cavaliers to the state championship, was named Coach of the Year.
