Kiwanis Club advocates healthy living with the Kid Fun Run, a local fundraising event.

SPOKESMAN FILE PHOTO - Both a 5K and a shorter fun run are options during the annual Kiwanis event July 29.The race to the finish line is on for the Wilsonville Kiwanis Club, which will host its annual Kids Fun Run Saturday, July 29, at Wood Middle School. With registration kicking off at 8 a.m., the event will be an opportunity to promote healthy lifestyle choices within families, while simultaneously acting as one of the largest yearly fundraisers for the Kiwanis Club.

Children ranging from pre-K to eighth grade are encouraged to register for the race. Runners can register online at anytime or in person at Wood Middle School Friday, July 28 between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. or the morning of the event. All older family members and friends will have the opportunity to run alongside the registered runners. Along with the race around the Wood Middle School track, the Kids Fun Run event will also include an opening ceremony, parade and lunch.

Thanks to a City of Wilsonville grant and support from event sponsors, all registration fees for the race have been waived, paving the way for free family fun.

For older athletes, the Kiwanis Club will host the Kiwanis Graham Oaks 5K on the same day as the Kid Fun Run. The event will meet at Wood Middle School at 7 a.m. and costs $35 per runner. Registered runners in either the Kid Fun Run or 5K event can visit the Wilsonville Chipotle for a free lunch the day of the race.

Above all, both events offer a unique opportunity for the community to gather together to advocate athleticism in Wilsonville and raise funds to support the Kiwanis Club's community efforts.
