PHOTO BY VERN UYETAKE - Congratulations to the Wilsonville High School Class of 2018!

The Wildcat family walked down the center aisle at the Rolling Hills Community Church in Tualatin the evening of June 7 to commemorate the closing of one door and the opening of another door.

Sneak peek of the Wilsonville Spokesman's June 13 cover. The Wilsonville High School Band, directed by Chad Davies, played the traditional "Pomp and Circumstance" by Sir Edward Elgar before the WHS Symphonic Choir, directed by Annie Kubitschek, sang "Star Spangled Banner" by Francis Scott Key.

Cameras flashed and cheers were plentiful as Principal Dan Schumaker kicked off the graduation ceremony with a welcome and introductions of administration and staff. Speeches were given by the West Linn-Wilsonville School Board Chair Ginger Fitch, Superintendent Kathy Ludwig and the three Valedictorians: Andrew Kassab, Brandon Kyung and Matthew Macovsky. Kassab's address was entitled "Looking Back," Kyung's speech was "Looking Forward" and Macovsky's message was "Living in the Moment."

After Schumaker gave his final remarks, declaring that the WHS Class of 2018 has met all the graduation requirements, tassels were turned and each student was presented with a diploma.

Be sure to pick up this coming week's Wilsonville Spokesman for a complete recap of graduation and to see photos of every Wildcat senior as well as photos from graduation. Spokesman staffers Clara Howell and Vern Uyetake, with design assistance from Stan Shaw, did an exceptional job of creating this special 12 page keepsake edition.
