Fifty-five WL-WV new hires get ready for start of school year

While West Linn-Wilsonville students were enjoying the last sweet days of their summer vacations, teachers were starting to trickle back into schools. Most school offices opened Aug. 19, with teachers and administrators starting to prepare rooms and materials for students’ return after the Labor Day weekend.

by: SUBMITTED PHOTO - New teachers and administrators report for a welcome session at the district offices Aug. 22.On Aug. 22, 55 newly hired teachers reported to the school district offices on Stafford Road for an all-day session. Because some schools still have vacant positions, more new hires may be forthcoming, according to Director of Human Resources Kathe Monroe.

“It has been an inspiring hiring season, and I can say without reservation we have some stellar teachers joining West Linn-Wilsonville School District,” Monroe said. “We had a fair amount of retirements this past year, and that coupled with summer changes such as moves and/or requests for one-year leaves, our hiring is more reflective of past years. It feels good.”
