Cat shelter will use money for pet adoptions

Best Friends Animal Society, in partnership with PetSmart Charities, has awarded a $10,000 grant to Sherwood’s Cat Adoption Team (CAT) to help fund special pet adoption promotions and events.

CAT is a participating member of the No More Homeless Pets Network, a program of Best Friends Animal Society, which offers help and support to animal rescue groups. This grant is part of Best Friends Animal Society’s mission of “no more homeless pets.”

“This grant means that we can offer more adoption promotions throughout the year, focusing on finding homes for larger numbers of cats and for harder-to-place cats, like black cats, senior cats and those with special needs,” said CAT Executive Director Karen Green. “Our goal this year is to find loving homes for more than 2,500 deserving felines. Special adoption events and promotions help make numbers like that possible. We are grateful for the support of Best Friends Animal Society and PetSmart Charities with helping us get more cats and kittens into loving homes.”

The Cat Adoption Team is the Pacific Northwest’s largest nonprofit, feline-only adoption guarantee shelter. It has found homes for more than 30,000 cats and kittens since it opened in May 1998.
