Wilsonville, Canby residents named to board positions

Clackamas Federal Credit Union recently announced it has added four new officers to its board of directors, including a Wilsonville resident.

According to the bank, Keith Galitz, CEO of Canby Telecom, was appointed board chairman; Gordon Huiras, retired Oregon City police chief, was appointed vice chairman; David Wimmer, an Oregon City resident, was named secretary; and Geoff Horton, a senior audit manager for AKT LLP, was appointed treasurer.

Clackamas Credit Union is a nonprofit financial cooperative open to membership for people who live, work, worship or attend school in Clackamas County.

“A major distinction of credit unions is that the directors serving on the board are volunteers,” said Andrew Vahrenkamp, the bank’s CEO. “Not only are we thankful for the continual commitment and service that our directors provide, but their leadership and expertise is beyond compare.”

Horton has eight years of experience in public accounting and is a CPA who specializes in providing financial services to manufacturing, financing, health care and other small- to mid-sized businesses. He volunteers with the Special Olympics of Oregon and lives in Wilsonville with his wife and two children.

“My background and day-to-day routine is working with financial institutions and nonprofit organizations — when the opportunity presented itself to be a part of the Clackamas’ board of directors it was the perfect fit,” said Horton. “I can apply my day job to a purpose that aligns with my company’s vision to provide an impactful change on our local community.”

Galitz is the CEO of Canby Telecom and has served on the board since 2010, with his recent role being vice chairman. Huiras has been involved with the credit union since 2001, when he became part of its supervisory committee. He has been a board member since 2004.

Wimmer is the retired former finance director for the city of Oregon City. He is a CPA and has been a board member since 2006.
